Presentations
Slide decks next to your boards and documents — made from a board, a document or a template, with live diagrams walked through step by step, charts, presenter view, PDF and PowerPoint export.
Presentations are slide decks that live in the same projects and folders as boards and documents. They are made for engineering talks: architecture reviews, incident reviews, demos and onboarding. A slide can show a diagram from code or a live piece of a board and walk through it click by click, so the deck explains the system and stays correct when the system changes. Everyone who has the presentation open sees changes as they happen.
Create a presentation
On the home page click Presentation, or on a project page click Create → Presentation. The dialog offers:
- Blank: a title slide and a slide with points.
- Templates: Architecture review, Incident review, Sprint demo, Tech talk, Team onboarding, Proposal (RFC), Product pitch and Weekly update. Each one has its own theme and shows what slides can do: diagrams walked through step by step, big numbers, charts, timelines, tables.
- From a board: every frame of the board becomes a slide with that part of the board, and every diagram becomes a slide that is shown step by step. The texts of sticky notes in a frame become the speaker notes.
- From a document: sections become slides, long text goes to the speaker notes, lists are split into slides of up to six points, and diagrams, tables, code and quotes get slides of their own.
You can also open a board or a document and choose Make a presentation in its menu. Slides made from a board stay live: when the board changes, the slides change too.
An AI agent can make and edit presentations through MCP as well.
Themes and layouts
Pick a look for the whole deck with Theme in the top bar. There are eight themes: Doska, Midnight, Aurora, Paper, Mono, Ocean, Sunset and Forest. Each one sets the fonts, colours and backgrounds, and every slide follows it when you switch. Diagrams on slides take the theme's colours too (switch a diagram to As on the board to keep its own).
New slide in the slide list opens the layouts: Title, Section, Title and text, Two columns, Text and picture, Diagram, Big numbers, Chart, Timeline, Process, Cards, Table, Big number, Quote, Closing and Blank. A layout is only a starting point: every element can be moved, resized and deleted.
Edit slides
The toolbar above the slide inserts:
- Text: title, heading, subtitle, body text, bullet list, quote, big number, caption or eyebrow. Double-click to edit.
**bold**,*italic*and`code`work inside. Text that is too long for its frame gets smaller to fit. - Picture: upload a file, or paste one from the clipboard.
- Shape and Icon: rectangles, pills, circles, lines and arrows, and the same cloud and tech icons as on boards.
- Diagram from code: Mermaid, D2 or nwdiag, drawn the same way as on boards. Errors are shown under the code as you type.
- Diagram from a board: a live diagram, a frame or a whole board from the project. It is not a screenshot: when the board changes, the slide changes too.
- Code: a code block with syntax highlighting.
- Chart: bars, horizontal bars, line, area, pie or donut, in the theme's colours. Edit the numbers as a small table in the panel on the right.
- Blocks: big numbers, a timeline, process steps, feature cards and tables. Edit their items as lines of
Title: text.
Background picture (in the panel on the right when nothing is selected) puts a picture behind the whole slide; Tone down keeps text readable on top of it.
Drag to move, use the handles to resize, Shift-click to select several elements. Elements snap to the slide's centre and edges and to each other; hold Alt to turn snapping off. With several elements selected, the panel on the right lines them up and spaces them evenly. With nothing selected, it sets the slide background and the transition between slides.
Drag slides in the list to reorder them. Write speaker notes under the slide: only you see them, in the presenter view.
| Keys | Action |
|---|---|
F5 / Shift+F5 | Present from the first / current slide |
⌘/Ctrl+Z, ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+Z | Undo, redo |
⌘/Ctrl+D | Duplicate |
⌘/Ctrl+C, ⌘/Ctrl+V | Copy and paste elements |
Delete | Delete the selected elements |
| Arrows | Nudge by 1 px, with Shift by 10 px |
Enter | Edit the selected text |
Clicks inside a slide
A slide can unfold click by click while you present:
- Walk through a diagram. Select a diagram and choose Step by step in Walk through it: each click shows the next part of the flow, following the arrows. Zoom in dims everything else and zooms to one group (subgraph) at a time. To set your own order, list node ids from the code:
user, api | db(groups separated by|). - On click. Any element can appear on a click of its own instead of with the slide.
- Code. Lines to light up click by click, like
1-3|5: each group lights up in turn and the rest of the code dims.
When a slide has clicks, a bar under it lets you preview them in the editor.
The presentation as Markdown
Markdown in the top bar shows the whole presentation as text, next to the slides. Edit it there, paste a deck written by an AI agent, or copy it out. Slides whose text you do not change keep the layout you made by hand; the ones you change are laid out again. The syntax is described below.
Present
Click Present (or press F5; Shift+F5 starts from the current slide). The deck opens full screen with the transitions and animations you set. Arrows, Space, a click or a presentation clicker go through the clicks of each slide first, then to the next slide.
| Keys | Action |
|---|---|
→, Space, PageDown, click | Next click or slide |
←, PageUp | Back |
Home / End | First / last slide |
B | Black screen |
L | Laser pointer |
Esc | Exit |
Presenter view (in the menu, or the button while presenting) opens a second window with the current slide, what the next click shows, your notes, a timer and a clock. Put it on your laptop screen and the deck on the projector: both windows stay in step.
When someone presents, the others who have the deck open see a banner and can click Follow: their screen shows the same slide and the same click. People watching by the public link get the same banner (Watch). Followers can send reactions (👏 🔥 ❤️ 😂 🤯 ❓) that float up on the presenter's screen.
Download and share
- Download PDF: one page per slide, with sharp vector text and diagrams. In the print dialog choose Save as PDF.
- PowerPoint (.pptx): text, shapes, pictures, tables and charts stay editable in PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides; diagrams and designed blocks come as sharp pictures, speaker notes come along.
- This slide as PNG or Copy this slide as a picture: for a chat or a document.
- Markdown: download or copy the deck as Markdown, to keep it in git or give it to an AI agent.
- Share: invite people to this presentation only, or turn on a public link. People with the link see the slides without signing in, can present them full screen, watch you live and download a PDF. Add
?presentto the link to open it straight in full screen.
Version history works the same way as for boards and documents: snapshots are taken automatically, and you can restore any of them.
Motion: morph and magic move
- Morph. Choose Morph as the transition (for the whole deck or Into this slide), duplicate a slide and change the copy: move things, resize them, edit a diagram's code. While presenting, everything that is on both slides glides to its new place; diagram nodes move to where the new layout puts them and new ones fade in, which tells "before → after" better than any arrow. In Markdown:
<!-- transition: morph -->. - Magic move. A
````md magic-moveblock with several code blocks shows the code changing click by click: lines that stay glide to their new place, new lines appear.
Media, formulas and live code
- Media in the toolbar puts a YouTube, Vimeo or Loom video, a video file or any https page (Grafana, Figma, a live demo) on the slide. Pages and players are live while presenting. A video can also be a slide's background.
- Photos finds free pictures (public domain and Creative Commons, from Wikimedia Commons) and adds the author's credit where the licence asks for it.
- Formulas:
$$ … $$for a formula on its own,$ … $inside a line (KaTeX). - Run code: tick Can be run while presenting on a JavaScript or TypeScript block, and a Run button shows its output right on the slide. The code runs in a sandbox, apart from Doska and your account, and stops after five seconds.
The audience
- Join by QR code. While presenting, the QR button shows a code for the public link: people follow your slides on their phones, without signing in.
- Questions. The audience asks questions and upvotes them; you see them in the questions panel and mark them answered.
- Polls. A poll slide (
```pollin Markdown, the question then the options) collects votes from phones; the bars grow on the slide as people vote. - Reactions. Followers send 👏 🔥 ❤️ 😂 🤯 ❓, which float up on the presenter's screen.
Presenting tools
| Keys | Tool |
|---|---|
P / H / E | Pen, highlighter, clear the drawing (people following see it too) |
Z / S | Magnifier, spotlight |
G | All slides, to jump to any |
The presenting bar also has a camera bubble (your camera in a circle over the slides, for screen sharing), recording (the talk with your voice and camera, saved as a video file), autoplay (every 5, 10 or 20 seconds, in a loop) and a phone remote (a QR code: big buttons, your notes and a timer on your phone). The presenter view works on its own too: flip through the slides to rehearse, then Start presenting.
Sharing, embedding and reading
- Embed: with the public link on, Copy embed code gives an iframe for Notion, Confluence, a wiki or a web page. In Doska documents, pick a presentation in Diagram from a board to flip through it inside the document.
- Read as a page: the shared link shows the slides one under another (with the speaker notes if you like); phones open it this way.
- Password and end date: protect the public link with a password, or let it work for a day, a week or a month.
- Views: who opened the link, how long they stayed on each slide and how far they got.
- More exports: PDF with every click, PDF with speaker notes (handouts) and an HTML file that works offline.
Brand, footer and checks
- Theme → Your brand: your two colours and fonts on top of any theme.
- On every slide (the panel when nothing is selected): footer text, a logo and slide numbers.
- Check the presentation (menu) finds low contrast, tiny text, pictures without alt text, overloaded slides and things that stick out.
Import and git
- Import PowerPoint in the new presentation dialog turns a
.pptxinto slides: text, pictures, tables, notes and the file's colours. - Decks can live in git: a
*.slides.mdfile (or one withmarp: truein its front matter) synced with Docs from git becomes a presentation. Slides you did not change in the file keep the layout people made in Doska.
Markdown format
Presentations can be written as Markdown: the Markdown panel shows this format, and AI agents use it through MCP.
